So, slowly but surely I'm trying to revamp the blog. Now I'm not the most technical person when I comes to codes and what not, so it's only small things changing but hopefully it will look a bit more interesting when I have finished. Colours, fonts, sizes, slight change to the layout, that sort of thing. I do want to design a new header for the blog too, as this one has been knocking about way up there for a good year 1/2 now. Does anyone fancy designing for one me? I'm going to start working on one soon, involving pattern and colours. In other news, I'm still in London but I've been jobless for about two weeks as the job I moved down for didn't work out(I can't really go into it on here), so I have just been enjoying the city whilst I can. Also at the same time catching up with friends, exploring the area and improving my cooking skills. I've been looking for more work as I really wanted to be around London for London Fashion Week but I may have to go home just before it. I do have tickets to two of the shows but I don't know if it's going to work out.
If you haven't heard of Up Close and Private I urge you to visit their site. The team bring out a new issue of inspirational imagery every season and have done for 3 seasons now. Up Close and Private is described as, "An on-going project by Sergei Sviatchenko which looks to capture the spirit of modern style, as seen through the subtle shades of the individual. Through these details a complex discourse between clothing, fashion and image take form, offering new perspectives on contemporary fashion and identity." These images are all from the Spring/Sumer 2010 edition. If you ever feel stuck for outfit ideas and colour combinations this is the must-go-to destination for a quick fix. They have also recently ventured into capturing womenswear too, bonus.
I recently saw a post on the Minor Keys blog about her trip to the MoMa, New York(which I NEED to visit at some point in the near future), where she featured a great big installation of a dinosaur skeleton, by Gabriel Orozco. It just made me remember how I became really obsessed with anything to do with dinosaurs at some point last year.
It also reminded me of this excellent "Anatomy Typeface", by graphic designer and illustrator, Björn Johansson:
I might have a go at something similar actually....
So it was revealed a bit ago now, everyone has had time to digest the details. So who is going for one? Obviously I'm not as I can't afford and not something I need, even a little.
I may have to try this out, I feel a pretty easy DIY project coming on. All I will actually need is a cheap jumper that I don't mind hacking the arms off.
Buckets & Spades is all about the life of a boy who lives by the seaside(but currently London). Covers fashion, lifestyle, design, graphics, architecture, music and anything else that tickles my fancy.
I'm Studying Fashion Promotion at UCLan, NW. About to embark on a year of work experience, come on, who wants me?
