Lens at Topman

Once again February sees the new Lens collection at Topman, for the S/S 09 season. It's basically a collection of exciting and up and coming designs, creating collections especially for Topman. This years guest designers are Carolyn Massey, Dexter Wong, Kasper Harup-Hansen, Mjolk and James Long. I'm particularly exciting to see what James Long has up his sleeves.

Here's a sneaky peak up the collection:

From the preview the collection looks like quite a mixed bag, ranging from JUMPSUITS (yes you heard me right) colourful knitted waistcoats. I can't wait, what does everyone else think, at first glance?

Shirt shifters

I know, I know, it's really bad and cheesy but I love it and I know it would love me too. It would especially love my vintage Levis jacket ( and probably a trip to the bowling ally, a cheese burger with Candy and a cheeky cigarette at the bike shed with the boys).

£30 at ASOS. I'm tempted

***EDIT ALERT*** So three days later and the shirt has strangely gone up in price to £45, don't ask I have no idea why!!!

Destination London

One of the perks of being on a uni course is that they sort out loads of trips and what-not and most the time they are free (well free at the time but we have to pay studio fees grrrr). In a few weeks we'll be spending 3ish days in old London town. While we're there we will be visiting the Hussain Chalayan exhibition at the Design Museum, the PURE trade show at Olympia (which I really don't want to go to as it's all average womenswear stuff) and maybe a quick visit to the Westfield centre.

Hopefully this time the weather will be just right as last summer when I went with Hollie and Jamesy is was too damn hot and the time before me and Hollie almost froze. So once again London here we come!

January's wants

Recently my lovely girlfriend Hollie, did a post on her blog Lipstickkk on how she's loving All Saints right now, so I thought I'd join in. Here's my top picks from their website:

Stuff goes pretty cheap in the sale so maybe I'll pick up something soon.

GFW carrier bag competition

Every year Graduate Fashion Week run a competition with River Island to design a carrier bag advertising the event, the brand and its sponsors. The winning design will be availble in shops in the weeks leading up to the event at Earl's Court, London, so forever who wins this is a major chance for some amazing exposure. Last year's winner Louisa Balls, goes to the same Uni as me (UCLan) and is in the year about me, doing the same course. The winner also recives £500 and two runners up get £100 River Island gift vouchers.

Heres my design, inspired by the London Underground tube maps, which I am slightly obsessed by;

Each line is made up from a wool brush which I found online and I have marked out where the Uni's that have Fashion courses are. It took for ever to finish.

Denim duties

Recently Steve at Style Salvage did a post about his new found love for all things denim (not just jeans), for instance, bags, shirts, suits and even shoes. To make things clearer SS created some cool mood boards/collages to take inspiration from. Feast your eyes, great job Steve!

My favorite pics from this bunch are the black denim shirt, polka dot House of Holland for Levis jeans and the blue denim bag with tan handles. Currently in the denim department (other than the standard jeans) I have a light blue denim shirt from Topman and a vintage Levis denim jacket, both which I wear quite frequently. After this I will be on the look out for a dark denim shirt and the Lanvin stuff is all top notch too, sadly way out of my price range but a boy can dream!

Since finding my denim jacket in a vintage shop last summer it's been a firm favorite, I just seem to wear it all the time. Its last outing was on Christmas Eve when we went for cocktails, I also wore my new black bowler hat (which I had to modify to fit my tiny tiny head!) and pink Marks and Spencers sock.

More exciting news, I'm writing this post from my brand spanking new Macbook which I bought the other day. It's going to take a while to get used to but I now finally am up to speed and have the new Photoshop. I feel like I'm now in some kind of special club and plus, the student discount is a blessing.
