Snow Days

The snow has spread nationwide in the UK and once again, we aren't prepared. Why does this happen every single year? Snow is the norm in the Scandies yet the nation is at grid lock when we get an inch. We haven't had any snow as yet but we have plenty of ice, I found out this morning not to my amusement. I stepped out the house in my Camper shoes and went flying, dashed in for a quick change into my Dr Marten shoes and then off I went.

The problem with Docs for me is, I find them an effort to wear and they don't look so hot with cords(which is my winter trews of choice). I came across these hiking boots-cum-wellies by Native a few weeks ago and they have stuck in my mind ever since. Made from plastic EVA and coming in a nice range of colours and a detachable lining, I think these would make a top choice to combat the chilly weathers but also pretty nifty for summer. Whack a couple of pairs of wool socks on and you're away.

LN-CC have got them. How do you combat the icy cold weather?

I manage to bust my ass on the ice at least once a year.. but I always seem to forget by the hottest part of summer when I'm wishing for a snowstorm. :]

So true .. it makes me laugh that we just can't deal with it, every year they say it's not important and every year it gets worse :P London is stupid in the snow ..it's like the end of the world, I noticed everyone in wellies lately. These look pretty cool, they would be great for people too and from work and like us girls do we could put on our pretty shoes inside (oh no I said to much).
I am going to wear my huge biker boots, they are heavy and I will easily get through the snow :)

I'm so awful at staying upright in this weather. I probably spend more time on my ass than I do on my feet.

Ooo the blue ones would be sure to help combat the sheet of ice covering the ground!

It's been a nightmare trying to find boots or just any sort of winter shoes this year. Thank God, I just purchased some and actually like them.

The shoes in your post don't look half-bad and if they're actually warm - yay. There's nothing worse than cold feet and then catching the flu!

I have a giant scarf that I can wrap around my neck about three times - it's made from superwarm wool, so that and a decent parka really keep out the cold.

Niiiiice! They look like they'd be just the job in the snow. It is so ridiculous how this country can't cope, transport's pretty much ground to a halt in the South. Yet, last weekend in Tallinn, planes were taking off in minus 10, 2 feet of snow and sheet ice on the runway!

i combat the icy/snowy weather by not leaving the house unless absolutely necessary!! you're right about the snow though, we expect it every year but we're never prepared & the country come to a standstill...we never learn! :)

I'm loving hearing about the snow in certain regions of the world right now! Though I imagine it is a total pain to deal with :[ Here in the southern usa if we get little snow flurries people FREAK OUT and rush the store to buy milk and bread lmfao, so ridiculous.
