Jack Spade Spring 2011

I'm new to the brand Jake Spade, being that it's an American company and they only sell there currently. I pretty much like everything about the brand and the website kept me amused for ages with articles and funny videos. You have to check out this one about a ridiculous robbery attempt, so funny. All their products looks quality, stocking bags, leather goods, clothing and accessories. I like their products shots so much I have used them as inspiration for my final campaign.

Here's a few of my fav things from their latest collection:
Blue and orange canvas tote
Blue nylon backpack
Printed leather wallet
Madras check shirt

All the products featured are available on the Jack Spade website, oh and go watch them videos.

And Release

I'm taking a few days off from blogging, boy I need a rest. But I'll be beavering away with all the uni stuff, I won't bore you all with the deets but when this project is all over I will start posting some of my work. It's probably about time since it's all I seen to write about these days.

By the way, mint with strawberry ice cream get the two thumbs up from me.

Anywho, in the mean time you can follow me on Twits here

Trekking Part 2

Topman "Matias" Hiking Boots

I know, it's totally the wrong weather for boots like this but I couldn't miss the opportunity to get them. I've been after a pair of hiking boots (I got this pair a couple of months back) for quite a while but all the ones I liked were clearly way over my budget. I've had my eye on these Topman hiking boots for a few months but didn't really want to take the plunge at full price but when they dropped to £15 in the sale it would have been rude not to buy them. They aren't as well made at the Fracap's or as high quality of material but I can sacrifice that for the budget I'm currently on.

I know, they're a proper marmite item, you love them or hate them. I'm going for the first, they're going to be great for protecting me against the British elements once it's cooled down a bit.

This is how happy they make me -

So come on, be honest. What do you think?

If anyone fancies a pair they still have plenty of stock in this colour and a dark green at Topman

Inspiration - Andrew Kuo

I'm not the best at organising my life, I'm quite scattered but I hide it well. If only I could organise my thoughts as well as Andrew Kuo. I mentioned that I bought his book last week and for anything who is into graphics, colour, interesting social commentary or if you have a fondness towards graphs I seriously recommend his work. His book Worry Me What is seriously creative and witty, two thumbs up.

Sunday's Moon

Did anyone happen to see the moon tonight? It's epic, not got a clue why but I couldn't keep my eyes off it. I thought I'd try get some snaps of it but I clearly don't have a good enough lens, I'd like to set up a tripod and take images with extra long exposure at some point. But till I get round to that I've have to improvise, alls I did for these was but a 1 second exposure on and giggled the camera around a bit.

Pretty cool results eh? I tried to draw my initials with the moon but the closest I got was a wonky N.

Uni work is getting pretty heavy now so expect sporadic posts for the next month or so. I'll still be commenting though.

Week In Detail #2

1) Topman jeans, Uniqlo socks, Ask The Missus Brogues
2) Gap jacket, H&M elbow patch jumper and t-shirt
3) Hollie baked some more cookies
4) Colourful vegetables from trend magazine Bloom
5) Final Campaign photoshoot

This week has been another one of those, I'm up to my eyeballs with work but I'm not stressing out too much as I think I'm on top of it all. So here is my Week In Detail once again. The above outfit is what I wore on Thursday when I had to do a short interview at uni. Me and Clare were chosen from our class to represent the Fashion Promotion course, which was really flattering. To be honest though, I totally ballsed it up and apparently so did Clare. Turns out we may be a bit camera shy when I comes to taking. Oh well, another day another dollar.

I've been design a magazine this week for my project and I'm coming to the end of it today, the photoshoot we did a couple of weeks back features inside. It's a simple idea, shooting products on brightly coloured card, but it's really effective. So when I'm all handed in I can share with you my work but you will just have to wait.

Let me guess, BBQs this weekend if the weather holds out?

Week In Detail #1

1) Worry Me What by Andrew Kuo
2) Superga trainers
3) Topman jumper
4) Velour shirt
5) Gap chinos

I actually had this post planned for Friday but stupid me deleted all the photos whilst I was clearing out some space on my laptop. I don't always have time to do a proper outfit post, it's a lengthy process to get it right if you're not mega photogenic so I thought I'd try out something different for a chance. Details of things that I've been into this week, hopefully I'll be doing this each week.

If you're into text/colour/charts and just amazing graphical skills I strong recommend Worry Me What, it's by designer Andrew Kuo and is pretty much my favourite thing right now. I may actually do a post on his work next week. The rest are things I've been wearing this week, nothing too flash just comfy stuff with nice details. Saying this, it's way too warm for a jumper now.

How are you spending your weekend? I wish I was out in the sun but I'm currently working on a magazine layout.

If you haven't entered the Gene Meyer sock comp you have till 12th April.

Inspiration - Beth Hoeckel

Just a short post today as I'm dead busy with uni stuff. I wanted to share Beth Hoeckel's dgital collage work with you, for me it's the perfect mix of nostalgic and modern. I see a lot of collage stuff, mostly work with is clearly inspired by Dada and such which is pretty standard but Hoeckel's work seems to have another quality. They sort of remind me of 50s postcards.

I might give some of these a go for my final campaign magazine I'm designing. We will see.

All Packed Up

Outfit - GAP jacket and chinos, Uniqlo check shirt, Ralph Lauren t-shirt, Penfield backpack

This week has been busy, good but busy. I've had two photos hoots for my final campaign which I mentioned a couple of posts ago and I've been knuckling down with work. Thanks for everyone's well wishes, everything went great guns so the process of editing and putting into context start now.....well soonish.

I trying not too spend much money of late, most of what I do buy is uni related or food, of course. But a couple of days ago I decided to treat myself to a new backpack, I've been chatting about it on Twitter and I plumped for the bright red Penfield number. I have a few bags but they're all mega boring colours so I went for the total opposite with bright red, what do you think?

The little details on it really make it, with leather bottom and trim, yellow pull toggle and nylon coating around the inside to project your gear from the elements. I'm getting a real taste for backpacks, I've even got my eye on this Jansport one a bit further down the line. Plans for the weekend?

If you haven't entered the Gene Meyer sock comp there's still plenty of time.
